I began reading Animal Farm today. I never read it, not even in school, so I thought it is high time to read it. Orwell is the pen name for Eric Blair. He wrote both this novel as well as 1984 (which I really hate), both attacking totalitarianism. Many say that his books have spoken in such a way as to change the world's thinking of political mindsets. I am interested to see what Animal Farm can bring to light, on this side of history. So far, I've only gotten into about 5 or 10 pages, but it seems like it is fairly easy to see that much of what he has to say has indeed made an impact on a world culture.
