First, they have added a "rate my blog" button. This button can help raise your position in the search lists. There is also a category sponser option.
Not only have they added these features, they are looking for feedback from bloggers. They really want to help bloggers reach their goals, and continue to provide ways that bloggers can raise their ranking and also keeping the lines of communication open for enhancing your blogging experience.

I joined BlogCatalog back in November, and have found that it can be a pretty good way to attract some traffic to your site because of the "recent viewers" widget that shows visitors and avatars.
I have never been able to get anyone to actually rate my blog, however.
