I have tried different kinds of creams, even hair conditioner, but the most important thing is to use a new blade. I have read that you should only use a blade about ten times before you replace it! I know I use mine a lot more than that! But using a fresh, clean new blade gives you a closer, smoother shave with fewer nicks and less (or no) razor burn.

This is true a brand new balde is the best shave because the blade is as straight as it will ever be without maintenance. With usage a blade warps, it does not get dull for a very long time, which causes highs and lows that create nicks and cuts.
