Did you know about cenotes?
In preparing for my upcoming cruise, I've been doing a lot of "research" online for activities to do while ashore. I kept coming across this word "cenote", which I'd not heard before. Basically, a cenote is a water-filled limestone sinkhole in the Yucatan.
These cenotes are filled with ground water and are apparantly very clear. Divers like to explore the underwater cave system connected by many of these cenotes.
In the Yucatan, these cenotes have been the principal source of water, as there are virtually no rivers above ground.
