Did you know how to blanch vegetables?
My grandpa is a really good gardener. He always has a mess of potatoes or carrots to share with us. Recently we acquired a bag of carrots. I knew that we could not eat them all soon enough, so I wanted to blanch them so I could freeze them. They will be so tasty later on in soups. I had not done it in a while, but today I blanched about five batches of carrots.
It's easy to blanch veggies. First prepare your boiling water. Be sure and cut your vegetables into small chunks. Put them into the boiling water. Let them boil for about five minutes to get them tender crisp. Next, plunge them into ice water. Once they are cooled down, you can bag them and freeze them!
