There's no silver bullet, but somehow you do get through it. All three of mine were really hard during their teens but now, ten years+ later are doing great. It seems as though there is a "soak time" that can last years, but then everything comes clean and it's worth it.

I wonder too, if the turmoil in the country (and indeed the whole world) right now doesn't make the teen years even more difficult because they sense the core troubles too and are even more at a loss about the solutions than we are. Your kids will come through with flying colors: it will just take time.

ah, time...I have been praying that my son lives long enough to come through his struggles (ie-I don't kill him first!) :) I am glad there is hope. my husband and I have to remind each other constantly of how we were when we were younger...

you know, that is a good point. a friend of mine actually brought up this line of thinking not too long ago. we were talking of some assigned reading our girls had. she said she was glad that one book had been read earlier, before the turmoil in the country and how her daughter was seemingly stressed much more than she ever has been before....

thanks for the thoughts. I sure need all the positive energy I can muster!!!
