Did You Know About Discount Disney Tickets?
Since 2002, my family has been planning to go back to visit Disney World. I am hoping to use my blogging money to make this dream come true for us. And now, I will be able to find Discount Disney Tickets to make the trip more affordable. They offer tickets for one to ten days!
Since I will be saving a little money, perhaps we will be able to afford tickets to another attraction as well. We can find discount tickets to all Orlando attractions and dinner shows, including the water parks and Medieval Times. So much to do, so little time!

Did You Know How to Make an Easy Strawberry Shortcake?
Did you know how to make an easy strawberry shortcake?
I found an easy recipe at about.com for making my own cake mix . It is really delicious and easy to mix up and keep on hand in the freezer. After mixing this cake up and baking it, let it cool completely. Then cover it with whipped cream. Layer it with fresh, chopped strawberries.
For a variation, you can slice the cake in half lengthwise to make it into two thinner layers, cover with whipped cream, strawberries, put the other half of the cake on, repeat cream and berry layers. Top with more chopped berris. Keep in the fridge. Delicious, refreshing dessert.

Did You Know About Bookcrossing?
Did You Know About Bookcrossing?
Some time ago I was introduced to Bookcrossing . This is a really fun activity that you can do as a family from time to time. It is almost like a scavenger hunt for books.
If you log into Bookcrossing.com, you can find out how to become a bookcrosser. It is easy. You log in a book you want to release into the "wild". You print out a label for it, apply it to the book, then release the book. Who knows where the book will go. The idea is that another reader will find it, and log it in to the site, read it and eventually re-release it, allowing the book to travel to another place. Also just as fun is the hope that one day you will stumble upon a traveling book.
I have logged in several books and released them (you can view my bookshelf ). I have only had a couple "found". The best luck I have had is in actually passing the books to other readers, requesting that they log the book in, read it and someday release it. Other successful releases for me have been taking them to an "official crossing zone". This is a box that stays set up at a local community college where books are rotated frequently.
It is fun, and it gives me a little sneaky feeling to leave a book laying around, just conspicuously enough to hope another reader will find it.

Did You Know A Good Birthday Party for Tween Girls?
Did you know a good birthday party for "tween" girls?
My daughter (11) just celebrated her birthday with a Hollywood themed party. It was great fun for all the girls. We found some great decorations to add to the atmosphere. We decorated with gold and pink stars and black and gold balloons. We found a red carpet to lay out the walk way and along side we had some laminate tiles on which we pasted shiny pink stars. Out in the yard, my daughter placed some letters to spell out "Hollywood" that she had cut out of cardboard and painted white. We mounted them on untwisted coat hangers and stuck them in the ground.
Each girl was asked to come dressed like a Hollywood star. As each one entered we snapped photos. Then each girl was able to pose for her own photo shoot. My young nephews were even around to ask the girls for their autographs! Then the girls ate a simple dinner followed by cake. Next they were ready to shoot a movie. They came up with their own script and dad videotaped. (The nephews even got in on it by announcing "Take 1" and "Roll it" before each scene.)
After this, the girls watched their movie, received their Oscar awards and then put their names on the star tiles with gold self-adhesive letters. (The Oscars were homemade, printed out from the computer, mounted on posterboard, taped onto star shaped boxes filled with Starburst candy). Afterwards, they were each given a blank book and a pen for each other to autograph.
After all the excitement, they changed into PJ's, hit the "concession stand" for cokes, popcorn, and candy (movie sized boxes) and popped in an old Hayley Mills Disney Classic.
Next morning, silly string and water balloons!
Fun, fun stuff!!
