Did You Know About the Four Alls?
Did you know about the "Four Alls"?
In learning about the Middle Ages this week, we learned about the "Four Alls" that were a part of their world. It was more than just a saying I believe, I think it really must have been a way of life for them. There were four parts to their world. Here is how the saying goes: "The peasants who work for all, the priests who pray for all, the knights who fight for all, and the king who rules over all". Take a look at the model built by my 6 and 7 year old nephews representing each of the Four Alls.

When we were getting our new roof, we had to tear down the enclosed patio area in the back yard. Although it sure brightened things up in the daytime, we knew we needed some light back there for the night time. Of course we just went with the plain and practical security motion light. It's pretty good, but our dog sets it off quite often.

Did you know where we got the word "chairman"?
It seems to have come down to us from the middle ages. During these times, homes only had one chair. This lone chair was for the man of the house-the husband/father. It was his chair and his alone (I don't know if he ever gave chair privileges to others.) So this word has come down to us today from centuries of use.

Did you know what you can do with a garage?
In the U.S. many houses have garages, both attached and detached. There are many uses for these garages. You can park your car, or cars, into it to help protect the car and keep it running better longer. You can use it for a storage area, storing bikes, lawnmower, sporting equipment and most anything else. Some folks convert their garage into a work room or even a game room-a place for the kids to hang out. There are some who have their home business in their garage. As for me, we have one car in the garage, a workbench and tools, and lots of the kids' stuff. One of the best things we have done is to mount our old kitchen cabinets (when we had the kitchen remodeled) in the garage. Now we can keep all the same old junk, but it is not so visible that way.

Did You Know Kids Can Have Heart Attacks?
Did you know kids can have heart attacks ?
We are talking about normal, healthy kids. Though it is rare, it is something not to be dismissed. There have been nine cases reported in Ohio from 1995-2006. Most of these patients were boys. None had the high risk symptoms of obesity, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, family history, or drug abuse. It is believed these heart attacks were brought on by a spasm of the heart. The symptoms were the same as seen in adults; crushing chest pain radiating to the arm or jaw.
