Did you know about my daughter the queen?

My daughter is invloved with a local community college theater department. This summer she is performing in The Spell of Sleeping Beauty. She was cast in a small role as the "false princess" (I think due to her resemblance of the actress playing Sleeping Beauty). The girl cast in a larger role of the queen was unable to be in the cast, so my daughter was "promoted" to the role of queen.

The show opened this week. My daughter is doing a really great job in her role. This is her biggest part yet, with the most lines. She is doing really well! (And looks so pretty, too!)

Did you know it's theater season again?

My daughter is participating in the summer children's theater at a local community college. My kids have been involved with this particular program over the last five years. It is a great program run by a great director. There is no fee to be involved and the kids have to audition and make the cut to be in the show. The director doesn't cut them any slack and really teaches them a lot about the theater. It is a great summer kid's program that he has run for the last 22 years.

Did you know about auditions?

My daughter auditioned tonight for a summer theatrical performance. We have been doing this for about five years now, mostly with a local community college theater department. It always amazes me to see these kids get up and do a one minute monologue in front of family, friends and strangers (and the director). It sure takes a lot of courage just to walk up those steps to the stage. Then, to face the audience, under bright lights and to say your piece; much less to say it loud enough and expressive enough.

Tonight there were 55 kids auditioning, and this was the second night of auditions. There will be two shows, with a total cast of 50 kids. It is tough! But all of them did such a tremendous job, whether or not they get cast. Just for getting up there they all deserve a round of applause!
