Did you know xylitol is dangerous to dogs?
I got an email today from the pet shelter talking about the dangers of xylitol to dogs. Xylitol is a sweetner used in sugar free candies and gums. It has apparently been known for several years to be dangerous for dogs. Even one to two sticks of gum with this sweetener can kill a small dog. A dog of 65 pounds can die after ingesting 5 or ten sticks. This is something for pet owners to be aware of and careful about. This tidbit is confirmed by snopes.com.
