It begins the Year of the Rat.

Both my dad and my daughter were born in the year of the rat. (That's right-one big rat and one little rat!) We celebrated early last weekend with friends. We had the traditional fish-well, not traditional in the sense of bones, tail and head-fried rice, stir fry veggies, fruits, and fortune cookies. I even found chocolate fortune cookies!

And all the kids received their red packets.

Once again, a great and pleasant learning experience for the kids. (Including me!)
ha ha!
yes, we had a nice time. we try to do to this every year w/ our friend. when the kids were younger we spent more time on the "learning" aspect-they made decorations and one year even made dragon masks out of cardboard boxes to perform a "dragon dance"-always lots of great fun! :)
